HOW TO KEEP YOUR SKIN CLEAR WHILE YOU SWEAT!
09:45
We
all know by now that working up a sweat is seriously good for our bodies but
one thing I often suffer from is bad skin, especially after a tough week of
training. Over the past few months I have been trying out a few ways to combat “workout skin” & have found these
tips to work a dream.
1.
DON’T WEAR FACE MAKE UP
So,
this may sound like a scary thought to some of us out there but one of the
worst things to do for your skin is to workout with face makeup on – think about
it, sweaty skin = open pores which means your makeup is stopping your skin from
breathing.
I am
so guilty of this, especially after work or when I am in a rush, but now I
always carry some Simple wipes with me and make sure I give my face a quick
wipe before hitting the burpees. If you REALLY want to wear some face makeup,
then try and stick to mineral powders rather than heavy foundation.
2.
DAB YOUR FACE GENTLY WITH YOUR
TOWEL
If
you are doing it right, you should be sweating (err, glowing…!?) by the time
you hit mid-workout so a sweat towel is pretty important. Just make sure you
are only dabbing at your skin rather than rubbing as that can cause irritation.
3.
WASH YOUR FACE STRAIGHT AFTER
The
main thing is to make sure you wash your face as soon as you can after a workout
– the quicker the better! If you don’t your poor pores are going to end up full
of sweat, oil & all the other delightful things that breed on your face
while you get fitter. I love using my Magnitone - it is a great way to get a deep cleanse and get rid of all the rubbish building up. I only use mine a couple of times per week though just because on my skin it works better that way!
4.
PICK YOUR WORKOUT WEAR RIGHT
Similar
to everyone having different body shapes, everyone also has different skin
types which can make a massive difference when buying your kit. Make sure you
wear moisture-wicking fabrics & not keep your kit on for too long – sweaty,
tight gym leggings still being worn two hours later is a recipe for disaster!
5.
EXFOLIATE ONCE A WEEK
If
you don’t already, make sure you exfoliate once per week. As you may know,
exfoliation removes the dead skin cells that could trap bacteria and get in our
pores so it is best to get rid, especially before working out. Make sure you
scrub gently though, no one wants to look and feel red raw!
If
you have any other top tips, I would love to hear them and test them out!
